Rare Bitossi Parrot
29.5cm tall. 8.5x10cm across bottom of base.
Paper label says Ceramica Sarda de Muntoni Plero. Initially thought it was made in Sardinia, but assured by Bitossi that it is one of theirs, and was retailed by Muntoni Plero through his company Ceramica Sarda in 1970-75.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Just because it looks like Bitossi, doesn't mean it is by Bitossi.
This vase was bought by a tourist 15yrs ago from an established family pottery in Sardinia and is stamped on the base Sardartis Castelsardo.
Bitossi is part of the much larger Gruppo Colorobbia which supplies the same clays and oxides used by Bitossi worldwide, so anyone can produce their own Bitossi-style range of ceramics if they wished.
Bitossi also cleared up the mystery of this pot. They provided Bitossi items to SARDARTIS, which was owned by Mr. Marras, who was their customer in 1982-90 but then he started making his own Bitossi-style copies such as this vase.
[/quote]Than he started to produce copies in a small factory in Umbria…specially small animals. We were not able to call him in Court. We can tell you if a single item is a copy or real…hope you can..! Animals copies are smaller than original.

Be aware that Bitossi's Aldo Londi and Sottsass designs have been re-released. google markanto.de for the list.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
If it's the right clay and impressed patterns and glaze colours, then yes it probably is. Can't go on the mark and label alone, though.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Rosenthal Netter was an importer of Italian pottery after WWII, along with another well known company, Raymor. I would say it's a Bitossi piece

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Had a look and it doesn't appear to one of Bitossi's standard shapes for their roosters/cockerels.
Would you like me to ask on the Bitossi Group?

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Found a similar one in the Bitossi group. All they'd said is it was 'created in Italy for Rosenthal netter.' I've asked them to clarify if it's by Bitossi or not.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Guido Bitossi is now in the group, and he has access to their archive so I'll see what he says. It's the Midcentury Italian Ceramic & Bitossi Collectors group if you want to join.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
There are a pair of yellow chalice shaped candle sticks in the group with this flower stamp which Guido says are Bitossi so we'll see.

Dove and Daschund
Hi
I have these two pieces, pretty certain they are old Bitossi and not remakes. Any ideas on prices? I've checked a few of my books and not got very far, also the internet is quite unreliable in terms of pricing!

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Yes, Bitossi. The yellow and green colour is called chartreuse, however they've added brown to the mix in this one.
