Re: Bitossi (Italy)
1950s Bitossi vase decorated with fish. Wheel thrown. Shape based on the ice bucket and decor influenced by Scandinavian designs of the time. Marked V337/21 Italy

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Apparently they've reissued the pieces, so these may be modern. If so they'll be a little smaller than the 60s originals

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
They might be Bitossi but you'd have to ask a Bitossi collectors group to be sure. The number relates to the retailer's import code rather than a factory code.

? Bitossi box
Picked up today - my first piece of Bitossi Rimini .
Assuming that's what it is of course ! Is there any way of knowing its age ? What does the mark tell us - also seems to have a remnant of an original (?) label
Thanks

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
60s vintage plus or minus 10 years I'd say. The marks were retailer's and export codes so they don't really help
Label remnant could be a Raymor wholesale label
Label remnant could be a Raymor wholesale label

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Thanks for that. Would it be designed and/or made by this Aldo Londi that seems to appear in any mention of Rimini?

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
He was the creative director at the company at the time

The Rimini Blu collection of ceramics was created in the early fifties by Aldo. This collection of vases and animals is characterised by their unique blue colouring and irregular texture. Today the collection is regularly the subject of research both for it’s artistic value, stylistic charm and historical importance, with each piece bearing the Bitossi stamp.

New addition to the collection. This is a Bitossi decor known as 'Scavo' - meant to look like it has been dug up in an excavation.

Marked A15 Italy Rocking Horse Bank - 1960s Bitossi, Aldo Londi design
Marked A15 Italy. Measures about 7-3/4" wide x about 6-1/2" tall. Although it is not solid, has a bit of weight to it. I was hoping to receive any thoughts on this one!

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Well, it isn't Bitossi, I'm fairly sure. It doesn't look like their style, and the mark's wrong. Yes, they did make banks though, with the penguins maybe being the most famous. I found a tortoise bank last week.

Bitossi?
Thanks Alex! I felt the same actually but had to get another opinion! Any ideas on a possible age? I understand that is a big question! Maybe just a decade? I have just always loved this and was recently told it resembles the Bitossi / Londi style - so it makes me curious!

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
This is a bit unusual. I was only happy that it was Bitossi after seeing the same form in different acknowledged Bitossi decors. I haven't seen another in this decor.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Try asking on the Midcentury Italian Ceramic and Bitossi Collectors Group on Facebook

That can happen if you have high security settings on your FB page which prevent admin from seeing your posts and interests

:-) Thanks - I don't share much at all on my FB page, so I doubt I would get added regardless. But thank you very much! It seems this piece I posted is some sort of knock off..... but I do love it!

Unfortunately if there's not much on your FB page it makes it indistinguishable from spam accounts :(
