Being somewhat heretical here. Given in reality, that they are all just forms of small bowls. Never mind all the Mystique about the Japanese tea ceremony and the Leach Anglo/Oriental which has been emphasised by modern potters seeking a market...

The simple answer is.....it's not boiling. Pretty sure most of the Japanese tea ceremony is designed so you don't get burnt Laughter

yeah they sloosh it around for ages in the tea pot so it's not that hot when it gets poured out.
