Re: Bitossi (Italy)
They did a yellow-green mix called chartreuse, and this looks a blue - red/pink mix. I expect they had a nice name for it. Might be mentioned in Mark Hill's book. Unfortunately I don't have a copy.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Shape looks similar to a Holmgaard bottle. There are other Bitossi bottles on google images, but not with this shape or pattern. Retailer is German, and it's unmarked, so possibly commissioned from Bitossi via Raymor.
Bay did something similar to Bitossi, but you'd expect it to have the West Germany mark or Bay pattern numbers on the base.

Found this similarly shaped one on flickriver. Used as a lamp base.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Hi, I have never found a piece of Bitossi with gold decoration, coupled with the design and lack of correct signature, I suspect this is in the style of rather than by. There were so many factories around Italy during the 1950s/60s cashing in on the new tourist trade and I suspect this is a very nice example from one of these factories. kindests emma

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Can't recall seeing anything with gold decoration but I have seen some weird and wonderful Bitossi pieces listed on US ebay which we don't see in Europe. the numbers looks right for Bitossi. It may well have been a special commission from a US retailer, ordered from Bitossi via Raymor .

Rare Bitossi Parrot
29.5cm tall. 8.5x10cm across bottom of base.
Paper label says Ceramica Sarda de Muntoni Plero. Initially thought it was made in Sardinia, but assured by Bitossi that it is one of theirs, and was retailed by Muntoni Plero through his company Ceramica Sarda in 1970-75.

Re: Bitossi (Italy)
Just because it looks like Bitossi, doesn't mean it is by Bitossi.
This vase was bought by a tourist 15yrs ago from an established family pottery in Sardinia and is stamped on the base Sardartis Castelsardo.
Bitossi is part of the much larger Gruppo Colorobbia which supplies the same clays and oxides used by Bitossi worldwide, so anyone can produce their own Bitossi-style range of ceramics if they wished.
Bitossi also cleared up the mystery of this pot. They provided Bitossi items to SARDARTIS, which was owned by Mr. Marras, who was their customer in 1982-90 but then he started making his own Bitossi-style copies such as this vase.
[/quote]Than he started to produce copies in a small factory in Umbria…specially small animals. We were not able to call him in Court. We can tell you if a single item is a copy or real…hope you can..! Animals copies are smaller than original.

Be aware that Bitossi's Aldo Londi and Sottsass designs have been re-released. google markanto.de for the list.

If it's the right clay and impressed patterns and glaze colours, then yes it probably is. Can't go on the mark and label alone, though.

Rosenthal Netter was an importer of Italian pottery after WWII, along with another well known company, Raymor. I would say it's a Bitossi piece
