Bitossi (Italy) - Page 8 Empty Bitossi Porcupine

Post by hdm1950 Sun Sep 13, 2020 6:53 am

I picked this figurine today hoping it is Bitossi but I am concerned that there are no marks and have found no others in this colour. Wondering if there are fakes around or if the molds were sold. It measures 17 cm long which seems correct. Bitossi (Italy) - Page 8 Img_0311

Looks real. There are a few this colour on Google. Possibly 1960s. The later ones are stamped on the base, where as the earlier ones would have Italy and a number written on the base of it was exported, but nothing written in it for domestic sales

Thanks NaomiM. I feel good about it and your explanation makes sense. I did not find any in this colour in my search but will look some more.

Indicates it’s earlier; c.1960s. The later ones are molded. Although this one looks as though the two halves were pushed into a mould before being joined to get the basic shape before being hand decorated

It’s by Bitossi, Italy. Probably from the 1960s, or at least MCM (mid century modern) imo. In a mix of  chartreuse and sienna glaze colours

Thank you, NaomiM.
Initially, I was thinking about Bitossi...I have Bitossi other pieces...But they are Rimini blue.
Was my vase of some particular series?

I thought I’d just put a couple of photos of this up before it goes off somewhere else on eBay.
He’s my first proper Bitossi animal. His legs been repaired but he looks great.

Bitossi (Italy) - Page 8 Empty Aldo Londi, Bitossi for Raymor 1963

Post by Qnssekr Fri Apr 15, 2022 7:54 am

Hi again. Can anyone give me any insight as to who produced this lamp? The main body is 20” tall and marked 4703A, Base Made in Italy. It’s very unusual due to the fact that I’m not familiar with this pattern. 🙏🙏🙏Bitossi (Italy) - Page 8 A4f3e910

Possibly Bitossi; many more Bitossi styles were exported to the US than elsewhere, so difficult to say. An alternative is Fratelli Fanciullacci

not Bitossi would be my view

possibly Nuovo Rinascimento and from my understanding Aldo Londi designed the majority of all vintage Bitossi products

Odd. Whoever runs the Instagram account of the Foundation of Vittoriano Bitossi liked the posting of the lamp which Bitossi was tagged. I would think it if was wrongfully attributed they would have mentioned something? I should DM them directly.
