A 1930s 5" vase in "Sapphire blue", similar to the Denby "Electric blue", but
always with a hint of red and pink running down from the top.

First of all I am amazed at the knowledge in this site. I am pretty sure someone knows the answers so here goes.
Is this a milk jug with the filter to block cream?
Based on other answers given the jug’s mark suggests Langley Mill Pottery 1930’s. Is that right?
What does the 7 mean
Is there any other info available?

A standard "chocolate ware" coffee pot missing it's lid.
Made for a long time, yes this one is from the 1930s.
The 7 could be the throwers/turners mark or the size code.

Langley were Lovatt and Lovatt of Langley Nr Nottingham. This mark was used from 1931-62. They were taken over by Bourne Denby in 1959, but a slightly changed mark was used from 1962 under the Langley name,

Thank you! I would not have guessed a coffee pot. The filter looks too big to stop grounds.

Langley Mill Pottery (Lovatt) - Derbyshire. - Page 8 Empty "Soraya" by Glyn Colledge. Langley Mill pottery

Post by vanmann April 24th 2024, 2:25 pm

Bought this 7 inch tall vase today and believe it to be a Glyn Colledge design called SORAYA. It appears to have initials to base along with printed backstamp. Initials appear to be JB, would anybody have any thoughts on this please
Thanks John

Yes it's vase shape 322, Soraya, designed in 1968.
I have never seen a list of decorator's monograms for
this period, so it's unrecorded.

Post by vanmann April 26th 2024, 11:33 pm

Have seen some of these textured vases described as Glyn Colledge designs from 1960s. Would this seem a likely attribution?
