Large Hieroglyphics lamp base and Tremaen Sticker. Great design from Peter Ellery who started his first pottery in Marazion in 1965, before moving to Newlyn in 1967.

Large lampbase - Tremaen Pottery, Cornwall
Hi
I've seen this large stoneware lampbase (over 12inches high). I didn't attempt to check for a mark.
As it was in a fairly awkward position I was reluctant to turn it over to check for mark. Knowing my luck I would have dropped it decimating everything around it. I did manage to feel underneath - it is hollow and base is covered in felt.
I'm hoping someone will recognise the potter from the design/ decoration.
TIA

Re: Tremaen Pottery (Cornwall)
If that price label reads £259, leave well alone, you can pick Tremaen up much much cheaper than that.

Re: Tremaen Pottery (Cornwall)
It wasn't anywhere near, in fact it was well under a quarter of that and I succumbed. 18 inches high. They didn't know who it was by and I let them keep the shade!

Retro Lampbase Watery Sea Glaze - Tremaen Pottery
An interesting and appealing vintage lampbase which has a distinctive form, glaze and mark. Beautiful organic shape with the retro white abstract design on the sea green base. Not quite lava but definitely mid century, the earthenware is marked with this 'runic' symbol and I wondered whether anyone was familiar with it. Looking forward to any clues or pointers, Michelle

That's a nice idea. Will do some more research but was under the impression that it was from down South. Thanks Naomi. Appreciate your knowledge. Michelle
