The Artist Ken Law
As an addition to my last post, I have to mention that as I small child I often stayed at Ken and Barbara's house in Hampstead, with my grandmother. I remember Ken practicing the Cello for hours each day. I knew his son John and daughter Sally who I think were a little younger than me. I would be interested to see as much of Kens work as possible, and have been delighted to see what has already been posted on this site.

London Town
Thanks to all for information on Ken Law. I have a old print of his called London Town. It's rather ratty around the edges.
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy more prints/posters of his wonderful works? NPV

Are you back yet John?

John's been back and contacted the forum. He's still abroad and busy, but was so inspired by the interest here he has asked his Son and Nephew to photograph the family collection and build a website.
A link to it will follow soon

Re: Ken Law
Wow a potential Law family reunion too now! The wonders of the interweb eh? Looking forward to a fully documented archive soon.

Re: Ken Law
Yes, I worked abroad for many years and lost touch with everyone, but a re-union seems to be on the cards. Looking forward to it. Michael Law.
Re: Ken Law
Michael, I'm looking forward to meeting John soon - if it works out and if I'm allowed I'll post some pictures.

Re: Ken Law
I am thrilled to have found this forum :-) My parents bought a Ken Law print called 'Skyline' from Athena in the 60's before I was born. I have loved this picture all of my life. I now have it hanging on my dining room wall and appreciate it every day. Can I take this opportunity to thank my parents for having the good taste to buy it!!

Hi, it's the same one as posted by Jeroen with the skyscrapers bridges and boats. It has the triangular Athena sticker on the back and another sticker saying 'Ken Law:Skyline'

Re: Ken Law
Hello,
I am so pleased to have found this forum - I have an original painting by Ken Law and have been unable to find any other information about him. The painting is of Salzburg I believe, but I don't know when it would have been painted. It too is mounted on a hessian wood frame, and I was very interested to see that his other paintings are framed the same way. I hope I have uploaded these images ok so that you can see. I love some of the other examples of his work seen on here and think a website of Ken's work is a great idea!

Re: Ken Law
How wonderful to have found this thread. My grandfather has the same print of Hampstead High Street hanging on his wall. He has lived in Hampstead for 70 odd years now.
I would love to own some of Ken Law's prints myself but they are very hard to come by. If anyone knows where or how to purchase any then I would be most grateful!

Has anyone heard of an artist Ken Law
Yes, I, too, have a painting by Ken Law and I love it. It is on block board and about 1m wide and shows a street scene in Hampstead. It is great to see so much interesting information on him.

Re: Ken Law

I had a great meeting with John Law and his mother Barbara yesterday, at their lovely house in North London. I also met Luke M Walker (artist) that contributed to this thread above. Barbara is also an artist and showed us some sketches she made of her husband Ken Law during his time with the LSO. One in particular was a drawing of him with his cello and a huge overcoat, in the power cuts in the 70s.
John or Luke may like to correct me if I've remembered anything wrongly............
Ken Law always had an interest in art and then during his days travelling all over the world with the LSO, instead of going out to bars with his colleagues he would sketch local scenes. Then when he got home, create his oil on gesso
paintings.
He first marketed his paintings with Liberty of London and then later with Athena. Ken also made silk screen prints, and as mentioned previously in this thread, sent Christmas cards to friends showing these designs.

I'm going to do three at a time because I just did them all and lost the thread

I will, thanks.
What I think it's interesting about Ken Law's work is that it could almost be ceramics.
The structure would be perfect for tiles and it would look great in large scale on a big wall.
