Re: Denby Pottery (Derbyshire)
Most unusual decoration, quite intricate, never seen one like it before.
Always count the colours, this has a lot, the more the better!

Is this a Glyndebourne pot?
I acquired this pot last weekend at a flea market. My research led me here and I was wondering if anyone could confirm that it is a Glyndebourne pot? I can only find 2 images on the internet (one being that attached to the post below. There are distinct similarities with the one I bought. Any information would be appreciated

The large vase below is from the "Glyndebourne" range that was created by Glyn Colledge between 1948 and 1950. Contemporary reports suggest that during this period the Denby factory was a giant studio pottery, centred around the work of Colledge. The shapes were hand thrown and the horizontally ribbed surface was intentional. The hand painted decoration, although in pastel colours, is most certainly in the Chinese/Japanese style.
In the book, Denby Pottery 1809-1997 by Irene and Gordon Hopwood, it states, "these pieces are amongst the most rare ever created by Glyn Colledge and confirm his status as a true studio potter."
Note: These were not signed just having Bourne Denby Derby in a circle and Made in England underneath the circle.

Re: Denby Pottery (Derbyshire)
Yes it is a Glyndebourne vase, there are several shapes and colour variations.
They don't turn up all that often.

Re: Denby Pottery (Derbyshire)
I do have a soft spot for some of the Denby range and feel that it is far more worthy and important than some of the more collectable British pottery.
Collecting and good taste often don't go hand in hand sadly.

Re: Denby Pottery (Derbyshire)
Doesn't look as though it's part of a dinner service. I don't know if they all had names

Good taste is like good manners in that they only matter to those who have them.
Denby? Pottery jug
Apologies for images not being of correct orientation, laptop on the blink, having to use my phone.
I think it is Denby, not sure about age, impressed letter E in the base along with made in England printed stamp.

Inherited Large Jug - Denby
I inherited this jug and it's been hanging round for ages, and I've been trying to find out what it is. It's 26cm tall, and has Made in England on the base but no number. I was wondering if it was Beswick?

Bourne Denby Shallow Dish Green Glaze.
This is another of my Grandmothers, one of which I've always loved so she gave it to me some years ago, and this will always be one of my keepers. It has suffered some chips (don't mention the removal men) during a recent house move.
I've always liked its fluid lines but never known the date or style name. I can't find much...in fact anything, the same so far on the internet. I was wondering if anyone knew about it.

Bourne Denby Marks
Hi
I think I'm right is saying this is from New Glyn Ware range. Mark for Bourne Denby 1950s? and signed by Glyn Colledge in brown ? mid 50s
There are also several letters and numbers in pencil . Would these be from when it was decorated or added in the intervening years ?

Thanks

Re: Denby Pottery (Derbyshire)
Yes it is new Glynware, mid-1950s.
Denby often used pencil marks on glaze trials,
but they could mean anything.

Could Someone ID This Denby Pattern
Could someone identify this pattern (it's a bit worn) for me please.
I would quite like a plate for my wall with this, I'm guessing 70's, design but struggling to find anything. I think if I can narrow it down then the search would be easier.

This is a decorative/giftware variant of the "arabesque" pattern, 1960s
Re: Denby Pottery (Derbyshire)
