There's a couple in the US with a similar mark - Robin & Billie Bloom, Earth & Sky Pottery. They sell off Etsy and a number of their flattened vases appear over here, but they also make a range of other pottery.

Thank you Naomi. I agree the mark looks similar but I managed to find another example by Robin and Billie Bloom on an expired eBay listing and there's a clear E before the SP
So I don't think it's them.

Thank you Naomi, that's excellent. Now all I have to do is to try and remember who it was who asked me about their mystery lamp base, so I can pass on the good news to them

Hmm so similar to Stoneshill. Might we need to review some pieces
in the Maltby thread?
eg my coffee pot here

I know. I’ll have to line them up and double check.
Edited to add the latest example from here -
https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t31235-sp-mark-vase-john-maltby-stoneshill-pottery
The first 3 are definitely Maltby. The last 3 are the mystery mark
The Mystery SP marks are consistent, but the fonts are different from Maltby's known SP stamp
JOHN MALTBY x3
MYSTERY SP MARK x3 -

Thanks Philpot
It's a bit of a wonky wobbly thing, but pleasant enough and good value for a tenner.

His early Stonehill stuff dos not go anything like the prices his painterly and sculptural work does unfortunately. But as you say, fine for a tenner. Might be bit of mileage in that price.

We've had this mark before and it's still undecided.. The fonts are not a match, nor the pot shapes and decoration. Although the clay and glaze are similar to Maltby's. The 'Stephen Parry' pot might be mislabelled. I'll email him.

I've merged the two threads
Stephen Parry says it's not his mark (the SP pot with the note written on the base was mislabelled)
Maltby had said it wasn't his mark.
