this guy's collection would change your mind but I'm not sure he will be joining now as the old Poole pottery forum put him off a bit

Tell him that if he doesn't join we will never speak to him again!

There is a cautionary tale to be had here. About overpaying and things returning to the market too quickly. Lot 283 the big Peter Hayes in this sale,had a hammer price of £500. It was bought in a Wooley and Wallis sale last year for a Hammer price of £980. With commissions,someone has made a whopping loss of this particular one.

It is illegal to declare an estimate but have a reserve higher than the minimum price in that estimate. Therefore if the estimate is £200 - £300 then the maximum reserve is £200.

However, if you bid £200 you are in fact agreeing to pay £252.80 at this auction.

There is a lorra Martin Bothers stuff there.But their studio pottery offering this time looks decidedly pedestrian. There wasn't much in their Design sale a few months ago either.

Yes nice stuff DD. I don't get why the 348. EC bowl is the same estimate as the beautiful 349 ACS red and gold lustre bowl. They are both huge. 485mm and 450mm.

The Robert Washington items are by far the most interesting (p79/81)
He worked at Denby pottery briefly.
