Very nice Most Excellent Leach St Ives Pottery standardware shape but certainly commissioned as a special present. Might well be for a christening, or a Birthday or anniversary.
I'll merge it with the main Leach St Ives Pottery thread in due course.

Hi NaomiM. Thanks for that and your reply. Yes! that's what thought, possibly a commission piece. Cheers The Leach Pottery. St Ives - Page 11 910958

Well yes, point taken, but we all love to see examples of what maybe the most important studio,
even if they are not the most stunning pieces. Hard enough to find anyway, to wit my meagre collection.

In theory it's meant to be Leach St Ives standard ware and those pieces just with the St Ives mark, with individual potters on separate threads, but it's grown organically rather than logically and would. E difficult to unravel. But it may be possible to copy individual leach potters pots to other threads but that would still leave duplicates on this thread.

Trevor Corser (1938-2015) was one the major continuity links in the St Ives pottery. Starting as an apprentice in 1968, he worked right through at the pottery until 2005,many of those years with Janet Leach. He died in 2015, and there was a studio auction of his work, and a lot has been seen on Ebay in the past year. I was lucky enough to get this one for £4.50 in a second hand shop, even more so, for it personal interpretation of the famous 'Tree of Life', an ongoing Bernard and David Leach motif.24 cms. 9.5 insThe Leach Pottery. A rare St Ives butter dish. Although in the catalogue, there seem very few of them around. One suspects they got broken more tham most of the range. The Leach Pottery. St Ives - Page 11 Img_4221

An interesting early earthenware motto lidded jar. Probably from around the mid-20's, when the St Ives made this sort of motto ware to sell to visiting tourists. Times were tough!

The base of the above jar. The earthenware clay is a lot lighter than other examples, and the base is not wire cut.

A genuine rarity. An earthenware St Ives Teapot. Its been through the wars a bit. No lid. Stapled at the bottom. One of the very few worthwhile buys I have ever made at the Peterborough East Of England antiques fair.

A lidded St Ives soup bowl, with a few chips. Looks like a precursor to post-war standard ware.

Probably 1960'S possibly early 70's Standard Ware. The England mark was used then. Never quite seen a convincing explanation as to why the ENGLAND mark was used, although read somewhere it was to do with the variations in purchase tax, which was the basic goods tax before VAT was introduced with EU membership in 1972.

Cheers Philpot, makes sense.. I wondered if it an export thing for a bit. Any famous potters there at that time I wonder, not exactly my mug of tea though 😁

Janet and Bernard Leach. Bill Marshall. These were the only ones that really used a personal mark in that period. Things got a lot more casual in the late 70's when lot more personal marks were allowed.
A lot of these would have been produced. Leach standard ware in the 60's was a thriving business, and the potting crew would have been up to maybe even eight potters, of whom all worked on the Standard ware.

The mugs would have been made by fairly new apprentices so I think it is safe to say that it wasn't made by a potter, who was well known or famous at the time.
