Dimpled red glass tumbler - Blenko?
I have a pair of these red glass tumblers. They each have 3 dimples round the sides, and ground pontil mark on base.
The red has a lustre appearance.
Rounded rim.
Closest I can find is Blenko, but the dimples on these tumblers aren't as deep as the ones on the Blenko pieces.

It doesn't look fancy enough to be Chinese, to me

Re: Dimpled red glass tumbler - Blenko?
So the last few hours spent searching Chinese glass may have been a wild goose chase.
(Actually I got distracted by Mdina).

Re: Dimpled red glass tumbler - Blenko?
Not blenko, easiest indicator is the bottom would have a pontil mark if it was. Secondly Im familiar with all their dimple vases and that doesn't resemble one. The glass wear tumblers they did were never that shape either. Two other American & West Virginian glass companies near Blenko also did vases with dimples - Bischoff & Viking. I'm not 100% on this, but I don't think your piece would be from there either due to the cut bottom but it couldn't hurt to double check.
I would also guess a recent manufacture, pos from China, Cezch or elsewhere.
Just my hunch.

There is a concave ground pontil mark on the base, but you're probably right it's not Blenko.

Ok, well Blenko never ground it's pontils. Blenko is the only glass I'm totally confident in my ID of, I grew up near the glassworks, own a lot and have the old catalogs. The others like Viking or Bischoff I'm much less firm on.
What is the size? I guess to me it looks to be a candleholder, am I wrong? Do you think it's a drinking tumbler or vase?

I've got 2 and theyre 3" dia across the rim, narrowing towards the base, and 3" high. They have the size and shape of drinking glasses/tumblers, rather than candle holders (a bit too round on the inside bottom for T-lights or other candles).

Re: Dimpled red glass tumbler - Blenko?
I don't know why but I keep leaning towards Italian due to the way the bottoms are done.
FYI: The Empoli region was famous for copying a lot of Blenko glass, in fact some Italians interned at Blenko and when they returned some very similar designs to Husted's (Blenko's head designer) started to appear. These are called fakes by Blenko collectors - but its nice glass all the same.
I would check on italian origins, maybe even Bormioli Rocco, and have you checked "Anchor Hocking' glass? Just some thoughts.

That's very interesting, thank you. I'll chase up the Italian connection.
Yes, looked at Hocking but not seen anything like these, and their items all seemed to be moulded, without ground pontils.
