JW mark - Jeremy White
Hi,
Does anyone recognise this potters mark. The jug is one of a set of 5 probably bought in the 1960's.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: JW mark - Jeremy White
It is almost certainly not by James Walford, who is mentioned above by Ed.
Walford was born in 1915 and made stoneware and porcelain mainly in the Chinese tradition from around 1948 to 1959. He then developed a condition that prevented him from throwing pots but in the 1970s returned to ceramics, making sculptural animal figures with Chinese type glazes.
Besides the form of your jug, the mark is not quite correct for Walford.

Many thanks for that ......I think that my uncle bought the set of jugs in the 1950's in England....the red dot and sticker number suggests an auction or exhibition but sadly that's all I've got to go on.
