pot pourri? Empty pot pourri?

Post by bistoboy May 28th 2012, 7:53 pm

bought this some time ago and have often wondered about it's origins. I think it's a pot pourri holder, and my hunch is italian, but i'm happy to be proved otherwise. The pottery body is red clay / terracotta type and is covered in a creamy white and coloured glazes. So, over to you peeps for any more info. apologies if it's not 20thC

Aha. I was going to say, there's an awful lot of damage to the tin glaze, that looks fairly recently done. I've seen recent Portuguese tin glaze pieces that have been artificially distressed to make them look older.
