60s Vase - Italian
Just bought - vase 12" tall - in heavy lava with glossy red and matt black glazes - multi coloured decoration with portraits in white - Italian - no marks to base but signature to bottom - can anyone make out or in fact recognize maker of this vase?

Re: 60s Vase - Italian
Hi - I agree it looks very much like San Marino - it has no mark except to the base (signature) - from reading the thread it could also be Melior or one of a few Italian factories - it is matt black to blank base. I wonder if Walter (author) can confirm either one way or the other?

Re: 60s Vase - Italian
I just googled Capua which looks likey as a signature and it comes up a region of Italy - it appears they had potteries and still manufacture tiles for export.

Re: 60s Vase - Italian
These kind of vases frequently have names of several different regions of Italy, because their were meant to be tourist ware.
