Re: Studio cane handled serving plate
I have (well had - just donated to a friends charity shop) a teapot with the same cane handle which was marked with a Purbeck Pottery stamp. I know cane handles appear on other makers work but it might be worthy of further investigation. The finish on the base looks like other Purbeck ware I've seen.

Looks nothing like the Purbeck pottery I have seen to be honest, was your teapot hand thrown like this is?

Teapot was moulded and to be fair looked nothing like this other than the handle. The handthrown Purbeck stuff I've seen had sticky labels on rather than a makers mark or stamp. And it's only the clay and base finish that showed any similarity to this, not the glaze or pattern. Maybe I'm putting 2 and 2 together and getting 22.

Re: Studio cane handled serving plate
You may still be right, I've not actually seen any hand thrown Purbeck pottery, only moulded items with a sticky label. Learn something new everyday
I've seen quite a few cane handle teapots / jars though, from various makers.

Re: Studio cane handled serving plate
Handthrown pieces turn up in charity shops fairly regularly and usually look like the kind of thing tourists buy on impulse and then shove in the loft when they get home. A handthrown stoneware piece with a sticky label was one of the first pottery items I bought (cost me a pound). It went to the Charity shop with the teapot because I really didn't like it, but I'm sure there's someone out there who will.
