Interview given by Clive Pearson. He talks of initially training at Tintagel for a few months but didn't like the owner. He bought a cottage at Clovelly and set up a successful workshop at Welcome. He then started Hartland Pottery in the 80s and Clovelly in 1996 (although there is one pot on this thread stamped Clovelly 1992, so I think the interviewer got the dates wrong), while also running a boat to Lundy in the Summer months.

Possibly an early piece by Clive C. Pearson from his Welcombe Pottery. I’ve come across some pieces with a similar round CP stamp, and sometimes paired with a fish stamp, with a wax resist or finger-swipe decoration that is also found on his pots with the full Welcombe Pottery stamp

Marks are CP with a fish
Not one of the fish in the book.
Mystery mark?

I've been researching these marks and I believe it's Clive Pearson's first pottery at Welcombe. He was very keen on sailing, running a boat to Lundy in the Summer months, and set up the pottery to fund his obsession.

Sarah Jane Lander has confirmed this is an early piece by her. She's now at Calf Street Pottery in Hartland and still uses the other version of her mark.

Picked up this lovely bowl, it's stamped Martin 2006, there is all so a spider/squiggly stamp near potters name on the base. Any input to whether it's a first or surname and anyone recognise the potter and style in more detail, thanks.

Clive Pearson ran Hartland Pottery in the 80s-90s along with Sarah Jane Lander, who joined in 1992. Sarah later ran the Pottery until 2003 but some pots dated 2001 and 2006 are stamped Martin so presumably someone else carried it on into the 2000s

Just had a reply back from Sarah Lander below. Sadly no Surname as yet.

Hi, Martin was his first name but I don't know his surname. Hartland Pottery was owned by Clive Pearson and he also owned Clovelly Pottery company. He had people producing his pottery from Hartland for many years I worked there from 1993 until 2003. Martin took over from about 2004 until it closed about 2007 ish.
Don't know what Martin is doing but Clive is still producing this chun glaze for Clovelly Pottery.
