Bought this yesterday at a Boot Fair as I thought it was well made but who or what does the GD stand for?

You could be right of course and when I bought it I thought that it would be easy to identify but it seems I was wrong.

Your "guess" reminds me that a year or so ago someone put a piece of pottery on ebay with an AW mark and said that they thought it was by Alan Wallwork but if anyone knew otherwise they should let them know. A certain gentleman emailed them to say that it wasn't an Alan Wallwork and suggested that it was more likely to be by Amy Winehouse and, if it was, it would be worth more. The seller put this on his ebay listing with a comment that the person who emailed was trying to be funny but was just being pathetic - not mentioning that the email was from Alan Wallwork.

That was a very well decorated little bowl that I'd long forgotten about. I sold it for a very modest profit a few months later.

Have to say it doesn't look much like any of the work that I could find by him on the internet but I have no real idea about his pottery career.
