Checked them out. Very tempted but at £150 each they were out of my price range.
I did like the seven times fired twin handled cup on the far left. Not for sale. It's going in for a few more firings to fill the firing cracks.

I guess that's the Goldmark effect, which means that they are always cheaper secondhand.

Svend Bayer had some lovely tenmoku bowls for £50-75, which were reasonable value. But it really annoyed me that he didn't mark his pieces. Unless it's something iconic like his bird-decorated bowls, I want a mark.

in my experience British studio pottery collectors don't want to see the story of a pot's creation but instead want an unblemished,'perfect' example which tends to come from factory production

The 'Gnarly Dudes' Svend Bayer,Nic Collins, Charles Bound and Co tend to go in for these very long-several days- wood firing. The effects so produced, warts and all, are part of the whole character of the piece.
But wood firing is only possible in rural areas.

I may be controversial but I also dislike potters who don't sign/mark their work. I find it arrogant. 'My pots stand by themselves'. Well I would say your average and commercial crap looks just like anyone else's commercial crap. It's like an a
artist not signing a painting. Or a band having a blank cover to every album. Sorry, but I like a good set of marks on a base, sometimes the base is better than the piece because of the inscription and marks.

The base is signed - its very feint due to size of base and firing, but it is there!
