ID required for bowl - marked with 'R'
Hi
Does anyone know anything about this maker? Stamped with the letter R, as I read it. Lovely glaze in my eyes.
22cm wide, 5,5cm in height and weight 648grams.
All help appreciated.

Oh and one other thing (sorry) - I see you're using Servimg - our board photo hosting system. However, please could you select 'THUMBNAILS' in future rather than the fullsize image as you're currently doing. This will put a clickable thumbnail in which is far preferable to large images.
Cheers :)
Cheers :)

Thanks Trippypip for the topic change and I will select thumbnails next time.

When I saw the mark that was my first thought but I don't think that it is by Rowena Kinsman for the following reasons: -
(i) Rowena uses a different stoneware body to that of this bowl.
(ii) Her work is soda glazed so it looks very much like salt glazed work - this bowl does not.
(iii) Rowena's work is blue, green and orange/brown in colour.
(iv) Rowena's work is rather quirky and the throwing of this bowl is rather refined.
I base this on have seen and handled many pieces of Rowena's work and having sold it in the past.

I can't find this mark in my british studio book , but then again going on your location it's probably scandinavian .

That's my thinking big ed - the clay body doesn't look British.

Ok, big thanks for the very detailed information above.
Big Ed, the book you are mentioning, is that the books name " british studio" . I would love to buy a book over british ceramic/pottery marks.

The book i have is British Studio Potters Marks ( second edition) By Yates-Owen & Fournier , it has over 700 pages but by no means does it cover a fraction of the marks , there are other books available as well .
