studio pottery - one of my faves, no id on maker though
I can't get the photos to do this justice but this and the next bowl I am posting are two of my absolutely favourite pots. This was bought from a collector (the one who I bought the Alfie signed pot from which comes from the States) and I just love the glaze on it and the pot itself. I'll try and do better pics one day.

stamp on side. Any help would be very much appreciated as it isn't in my book, or not that I can find.

looks like a thrown pot that has been altered whilst still wet then salt glazed

or more likely it has been wood fired and not salt glazed,it's hard to tell from the pics

yes they do help, the pot was fired upside down so the stilt marks make me think salt glaze again

thanks! I thought it was salt glaze but I hate to make myself look foolish.... It's really beautiful, my photos make it look quite wonky but it isn't. Any idea who's mark this might be? just a rectangle impressed in the side

I think the rectangle would have had a maker's mark within it but this has been covered over with saltglaze

thanks - I'll try and search for a mark that has a largish rectangle then and see what comes up

the method of production and choice of glaze should rule out most potters
Ruthanne Tudball is one of the few people who fit the bill as far as I know

mm, I have been searching based on the glaze - very few and far between aren't they. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll go take a look now.

ah, I think this might be the maker. I asked where it had come from and there was some confusion - the owners sister said she thought Scotland but his niece was insistant it was Ireland.
what do you think?

Re: studio pottery - one of my faves, no id on maker though
yes sorry, posting very late and brain not engaged.
I'm not totally certain because there appears to be a raised stamp in the middle of the rectangle on those pieces and I can't make that out on mine. But I have sent him a picture and asked him so I'll let you know.
thanks again for your help.
