These from 1958/59 are very similar to the Ian Godfrey Pots which I posted on the Ian Godfrey, Thread. From COCA York, June 2023

Mick & Sheila Casson - Page 3 Empty Huge salt glaze crock - Michael Casson

Post by HelenC August 22nd 2023, 7:33 pm

A huge crock pot (approx 12in tall) which was described as by Alan Ward - the mark seems to match but I can’t find any other examples of his work in a salt glaze. It’s beautifully made, with what appear to be kanji symbols applied to the neck. Any thoughts appreciated.

Oh, I hadn’t thought about that at all. I’ll do some more research. Thank you!

Thanks, Naomi, I’ve tracked down several almost identical bread crocks (in form) by Michael Casson so it’s safe to say it’s by him. This was one of the ‘extras’ in an auction lot I bought solely for a little Phil Rogers jar in it - so a nice surprise, it will be staying now!
