Re: Robin Welch
Yay, found another piece. Thankfully in the charity shop next door to ours, so didn't have to 'fess up to the manager what they'd priced up at only £2.99.
Nice big lidded storage pot.
9.5" high, incl lid.
8.5" across the rim

Re: Robin Welch
Yes, it's definitely the right way up, because if you up-end it you get Robin Welch's impressed mark upside down at the top. But apart from that, it looks OK either way!

Here's a 24cm tall slab vase.
Is anyone able to date this piece?

Re: Robin Welch
Oh that is so sad.He was a wonderful potter, and was at Hatfield every year up to fairly recently. I cannot think of another potter who embedded the painterly palette so deeply within his pottery craft. What with Alan Wallwork, it is a very sad end to the year.

Re: Robin Welch
Robin was a one-off and it was always a joy to visit him and deal with him. The advice that I will always remember him giving me was that, "If he was a gallery owner then he would have nothing to do with studio potters, as their work didn't fetch anywhere near that of painters."
Sound advice to be honest, if you did it for the money.
