Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
I'll put myself in the pro-Wiinblad camp - the signed example with identical form, colours and very approximate decoration (as approximate as a semi-random decoration can be), as well as signed examples of different forms using the same colours/design swing it for me.
Were he not so very famous for his ubiquitous figural illustrations, I'm not sure this discussion would be taking place based on the evidence given so far.
I'll be spending time with a pottery-dealing Dane over the weekend at Aintree fair - I'll see if he has an opinion on it (wifi pending).

In amongst the links there's this, with a Wiinblad impressed mark:

Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
sorry if I bother you again but the statement: ( strange that his name is on all the other rosenthall pieces ) is not true at all... the rosenthal series by wiinblad "form ohne namen" is mostly found without the wiinblad signature (actually I never found it with his signature) and the "brotzeit" line can be found with but also without his signature.... like many other designs by wiinblad
Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
some series produced quite a long time and the rosenthal mark changed while it still was in production...
Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
Big Ed, you wrote: "you don't surely "collect" your own stuff"....actually even I wouldnt a lot of designer and artist do collect their own stuff...
horst kerstan for example kept his best pieces....

Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
dont forget that lots of artists are serious narcissistic and do collect and display their own work
Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
artists who have a certain success often try and rebuy particularly their earlier work or what they consider important pieces one frequently see's "from the collection of the artist" mentioned, when they are just the designers its quite normal to keep one example of each design it all goes on to the next generation
Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
Interesting to note Postmodernut desicribed his lamp as being like Hutschenreuther, becauase as it turns out Hutschenreuther is a brand Of Rosenthal , did Wiinblad design for them as well?, rosenthal seem to jump on everybandwagon going , they even have an Andy Warhol range out now , were he took simple shapes and coloured them in bold primary colours , WOW! well done Andy , take a bow

Here is an image of the base, no Winblad button. I have read somewhere else, just recently, that this was attributed to Winblad, but not certain.

Here is an image of the base. Weird, I posted this image earlier and it didn't come up. I have read that this piece was attributed to Winblad recently, but have never been sure. No Winblad biscuit here.

Sorry, when I just looked the image wasn't there. We have owned this piece, prior to 2000.

Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
actually you are right that lots of attributions has been wrong.... I remember years ago I named a cari zalloni vase "bullseye" and two weeks later there has been lots of bullseye vases on ebay.... short after it was known these are actually called zyklon.....took some more weeks to get the name bullseye out of the ebay-mind.... (I never said that the name is bullseye just that the vase comes with a bullseye like surface)
even hutsch is part of the rosenthal group rene neue never did design for rosenthal.... you can't find the name in the rosenthal designer list....
http://int.rosenthal.de/1116/Company/Design/Designer_Portraits.htm
but this lamp is no wild or weird attribution to wiinblad....it is a design by wiinblad:

I've asked a friend of mine who has one of these lamps to have a look underneath yesterday evening and his one is marked with the wiinblad signature....

Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs
Wonderful id, thank you all very much. I guess it was worth the $39.85 including shipping from Germany in 2002. Jack

I assumed Rosenthal simply copied earlier Nymolle pieces.
Re: Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs

I just spotted one of his "self portrait" pieces on ebay that may be a clue
