N (V?), signed Cushing bowl Empty N (V?), signed Cushing bowl

Hi,
hoping someone might know who this artist is -
bowl measures (approx) 11cm diameter, 6cm deep
signed on base N Cushing
NB note deliberate bifurcation of middle 'h' of surname- - possibly indicating  letter 'V' ?
(can't find match on bispm website, only Cushing on the US marks site [TMP]  is for Val Cushing [Val M Cushing] (1931-2013), but signature does not match)
(one website states he lectured/was artist-in-residence at Manchester and Wolverhampton)
