Ebay Maggie Fisher

You may have seen a couple of vases just gone on ebay signed Maggie Fisher.
The seller (at the moment) is claiming these to be by Celtic Pottery Maggie Fisher, which I'm 99.99% certain they ain't!

I have a vase by the same 'Maggie Fisher' bought years ago (cheaply) just to confirm to myself if it was or wasn't CP Maggie. From the photo's there was a very slim chance it 'may' have been, but on handling it, NOTHING was right and the signature isn't really right either. (the sig on mine is virtually identical, to these two).
At the time I wasn't sure if it had been made to deceive or not?

But with these 2 new ones now turning up, which are just so not right, I suspect it is a 'hobby potter' who just happened to be called Maggie Fisher.
I have contacted the seller, so we'll see if they change the 'Celtic Pottery' attribution.

I think you're right that it's a hobby potter with the same name - unless someone has a pot with her signature on it for comparison

That's the other thing that is 'unusual'. Maggie didn't seem to sign her name in full very often. I've a vase probably thrown by Maggie (it's so 'rough') with plenty of room to sign in full, but this just has MF on the base. But all 3 'suspect' vases (these 2 and my 1) have the full name on the base.

Yes, not the same handwriting, and her F's are very distinctive.

They've not got back to me. But they have removed Celtic Pottery from the listing titles and descriptions.
