Z & RS mark - Willie Nankervis, Zennor Pottery - Ruth Scott / Ruth Rodda

Beautiful heavy fruit or cheese plate, with fishes (?Pisces) design.
Dinner plate size.
Cannot describe technicalities, as not my metier. I assume moulded, not thrown. Earthenware

Unfortunately it's not in the Marks book. If no one recognises it then we just have to wait for one to turn up with a label

Which marks book are you referring to Naomi ?

Actually I think it's a Z not an N - the serifs seem clearly to indicate this.
So I don't know if that means it IS in 'The Marks Book' under Z not N.
But I don't have the book, so I can't check.

You're right, it's Z, not N. Not in the Marks book but the Z stands for Zennor Pottery, Cornwall, established by Willie (or Willy) Nankervis, I think potting in the 70s if not before. I've found one with the Zennor stamp and your RS stamp. RS is still a mystery but he had a few assistants.

RS stands for Ruth Scott who's married name is Ruth Rodda. She was Nankervis' assistant in the 70s before setting up her own studio, Tregeseal Pottery, near St Just, Cornwall

I wonder if Ruth is still going? Nothing much on Google. Would like to send a message of appreciation.
