Terracotta Caricacture Bust, Georges Laporte 1845-1926

Strangely, I fell in love with this ugly old damaged bust, possibly French ( owing to the possible artists name of Georges Luports ... if that is the artists name!), bought at a French bootsale.

But I have not been able to find any information about the name or the bust itself - is it a bust of a character from a play, like Shakespeares the Tempest, or is is it meant to be a caricature of a fat, old, ugly, angry man - with a hat?

I have drawn a blank on the French forum, so I thought I would see if anyone here, like tenpot, can offer me any information at all.

It stands at 17cm high and has been crudely repaired.It may simply be a molded figurine dated from 'yesterday' ... probably not very old ... but then again ...

Could the last word be dupont ?
Possibly the name of the person depicted, rather than maker ?
