Teapot vague mw mark - possibly Martyn Webster
The creator of this teapot was too blasé to have bothered signing it legibly..
yet not enough, to have simply not done so at all?
I'd personally rather not give them the glory of identification, but given the hours I've invested staring at it,
wouldn't mind if someone could help put me out of my misery.

off topic, i'm sorry if i'm annoying, but i'm asking everyone of you as pottery connaisseurs
why is this pot glazed on foot ? what may i learn from beeing glazed or not on the base ? i am telling this because almost all teapots i've seen were not glazed on foot and i thought the main reason is for practic purpose . i mean as teapots are put over flames or hot surfaces to maintain temperature, glazes are likely to crack and become ugly. thank you

The risk of glazing the base is that it’ll stick to the kiln shelf if the glaze runs. If you’re trimming the base after throwing and decide to give it a footrim then you have the option to glaze or not glaze. If your throwing is good enough that you don’t need to trim the base and create a footrim then you wouldn’t glaze.

I know how well a small candle can work to maintain heat.
This looks too small to bother heating at the base. Maybe good for 2 cups.
I certainly don't think putting on any stove would be a good idea.
Maybe this was made to be more decorative than functonal?
