Mark, with A and a date or a tradition Japanese House?

No one can say it isn't short and stout.

BA mark, dated 1982. Not found it in the Marks book

Maybe a longshot but similar to this stamp, which is still a mystery. But other potteries used an A in a similar font

That's very interesting Naomi.
I have just researched Atsuya, he apparently set up his own pottery and Kiln in 1979.
So the date of '82 might make sense and as to why this teapot doesn't bear the St.Ives mark.
Sad to hear he died at an Early age of 54 in 1986.

I wonder, I'l see if I can find other examples of the mark on his work.

there is an australian potter Bruce Pryor who has a mark with a similar A and a B beneath  Innocent

It's almost a direct copy of the albrecht durer (A) mark, but he died in 1528

If it's his there should be shell marks with the AB mark if it was made in 82
