Dog bookends - anyone recognise them or the number mark?

Both have the same number on the bottom.

Are they porcelain? try shining a torch inside.

Nothing happens with the light so not bone china, just regular white clay.
And yes, very nicely modelled - i particularly like the way their back legs perch on the edge.
It's a shame they both have their tails broken and badly glued. I might see if i can removed some of the glue.
