Dear forum

A well formed and executed small stoneware glazed vase. Black clay makers mark of an impressed “W” lying within an oval.

Height approx 4.5 inches.

Would appreciate any help on IDing this piece.

Thanks in advance

Been told by a friend that he’s sure he has seen another piece with the same W imprint, clay and glaze in his travels! If that’s so then I guess there’s a possibility that the potter of this piece may have a penchant for these particular materials?

There are a few raku potters with a W mark, such as John Wheeldon, unfortunately this one isn't in the Marks book

Thanks again Naomi. Nothing in my books either. Hoping the form and finish rings a bell for a forum member!

Thanks again

Dear all

Attached please find pictures of a raku glaze white crackle black clay bowl approx 6” in diameter which appears to bear the same makers mark.

Hoping that the form might ring some bells for someone!

Another piece by this mystery potter. This small bowl evokes Katherine Pleydell-Bouverie to me…
