Black 1935 vase, SC AC mark Empty Black 1935 vase, SC AC mark

Can anyone identify the maker's mark of this stunning stoneware vase with thick black glaze? It seems to read CVS or OAS. There is '35 picked out in brown which is presumably the date and also the intials JMC. Any suggestions welcomed.

The stoneware body showing on the foot suggest to me that it doesn't date from 1935 but it could do.

What is the impressed mark on the foot ring and is it possible to send a larger image of it?

I’m seeing a SC monogram with a fish tail or it might be sS

I'm not finding it in the British Studio Pottery Marks book, but if the date is right then it might be in Godden

I’ve edited the photos so the marks are the right way round
