Brutalist Fish Statue, Martin? Empty Brutalist Fish Statue, Martin?

Post by artpicker September 14th 2022, 7:47 pm

Hello,
New member here, I hope this shows up in the "identify my pottery" section.
I found this awesome clay fish statue in a brutalist style.
6 1/4" high
7" long
2 1/2" wide
It is made of a light color clay and has a matte finish.
It is hollow.
Impressed with a maker's mark on the base with two rows of letters, that look to spell: MAR  TIN (maybe it spells something else)
I've googled Martin and used Google Lens. Can't find anything.
Maybe this was a student piece, but the style seems very mature and seems would be a proficient potter.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Rob

Nice piece. My first thought was an SN chop but Martin is possible too. Unfortunately I’m not finding either option on The Marks Project website.

Looks like it’s stamped with an SN monogram
