From 1947-51 he used an incised or painted SR monogram
From 1951- he used an incised or painted Sd monogram

I hadn't heard of him before now so I can't comment on whether it's by him or not but see that he might have been in E. Africa in 1944, as you state
However, it's a nice looking period piece and I would buy it at that price.

I didn’t buy it. Nicely decorated but a 40s date always makes me think pottery classes for recuperating soldiers.
