Huge raku bowl ID?
I can’t decide if this huge raku bowl is fantastic or fantastically ugly! It’s about to split into two pieces so before it does I thought I’d have a go at an ID. No mark, but a very odd style of decoration looking like someone has piped red clay slip over the copper glaze then squished it. Not optimistic but - anyone seen anything similar before?

John Dunn. Famed for his very large raku dishes.Never seen that type of slip decoration on his work Though.

Aside from it being raku, it doesn’t look typical of his work

I have to say the work I’ve seen of his is rather more ‘refined’ than this - I’ll do some digging though.

The crackle glaze does. I have owned a couple of pieces of his before selling them on.

Not John Dunn, I asked him! Surprised a bowl of this size isn’t marked, given the skill involved (regardless of my opinion of the decoration) in making and raku firing something of this size.

If that is felt on the back, there could be a mark underneath.

Hi, no the back is just bare carbonised clay body and glaze, no felt, and no mark
