NEED HELP TO IDENTIFY

I adore this little piece and would love to know its origins.  It's beautifully glazed greens and browns with a hint of blue inside. How does the mark read? Up, down left to right or right to left?

I suspect that it is this way up.


The kanji suggest that it's Japanese but it is a long-winded way of marking what is a small pot. That might suggest that it is more than 50 years old.

I can't read the mark but I think it is not going to be the mark of an individual potter but of a kiln, that is, a production piece and so not of significant value.

You being the other side of the world from almost all of us does make it more difficult for us to identify pieces but we'll give it a go and, if we can't help, we might be able to suggest other options.
