BREXIT Import Duties Changes

Can someone please explain if we don't reach a trade deal with the EU what the changes to imports ill be? Also Exports?

I buy the odd piece of ceramics and the odd watch from the EU (luxury goods). The odd thing from USA also. What class is studio pottery? Is there a lower limit like £100 before duties kick in.

Have you ever ordered anything from the US or Japan? Those are the charges. There’s Duty and there’s VAT, and there’s a handling charge.

Naomi is correct and the real pain is if it is a modestly priced item the handling charge is a high % of the whole cost.

I can’t remember which way round it is but there’s a charge if its over £15 and the other charge if its over £?? amount. And fee handling is around £10-15.
I had one idiot seller in Japan adding the postage costs into the value which cost me more than the tea bowl.

A lot of small businesses in the US etc aren't going to sell to the UK from January because the Government is making them collect VAT upfront and spend thousands registering with HMRC. Amazon marketplace isn’t going to stock European sellers on the U.K. site because of the uncertainty and customs nightmare from January

Some small US buisnesses do use Borderpay, all seamless, VAT, DUTIES P.P
all calculated and added at checkoit.

Amazon's Global store does something similar I believe.

Interesting is it not. 5 weeks to go before Brexit and most people have not a clue how it is going to effect them personally.
On t'other hand. Five weeks to go before Brexit and this idiot govenment seemingly has not it it a clue as to what Brexit really wants.

French test out immigration controls on Eurostar and there was 5 miles of queuing lorries through Kent, and that was only adding 70secs per lorry. Just wait until the full U.K. Customs experience is rolled out for the first time on 1st Jan.
