Glass sculpture - Murano?
Hello
I hope someone can help me satisfy my curiosity.
I have a heavy signed glass sculpture of a reclining nude, bought as Murano. I would love to know some more about it. I cannot decipher the signature, but can read the other engraving of "Ugo Luciana". So far all my searches have come to nothing! The only thing I do know is that there are another 49 out there.
Thanks in advance for any insight. intelligence or identification!

Re: Glass sculpture - Murano?
Or maybe not!
If the 5/50 refers to year, then it doesn't seem probable he would have done this at 14.
Great glass making in Murano though is often a family tradition with generations of glassmakers, so I would concentrate on Rosin and find out as much as you can about the glass making history of the family.

Re: Glass sculpture - Murano?
Many thank for the tip! The signature does match.
So spurred on, I have found a work that is very similar called The Patisan, but cannot so far see any versions of that in the same clear opalescent glass. And then there is the Ugo Luciana mark....
I had taken the 5/50 to mean that 50 were made and this mine is the 5th. I had not considered that it could be a date.
Rosin seems to be a traditionally trained and apprenticed Murano artist - starting work at 14 at a furnace.
Much more research to be done.
