Unusual large pottery lamp base 1950's maybe?

Got this at a local auction recently finding it
more difficult these days in Covid times many are
not operating very smoothly sadly and prices are
higher near me maybe due to the people being stuck
at home i'm not to sure. Anyway the lamp appears to have
a mark on the base rim but illegible quite a nice item would
love an idea of age and maker i thought it looked a bit like
Casa Pupo at first glance Thanks Dan

I think it’s just a decorators piece. Likely to have been made in Asia, imo, although Italy or Portugal are possible
