Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
Yes, I think it’s Chelsea. I’m not sure we’ve had that signature before on the Chelsea thread

Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
That is such an expressive and unusual piece. You do really have to admire the Chelsea decorators, they did some wonderful individual stuff. Yes definitely Chelsea.

Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
I think your first guess is correct, the signature, style, glaze and clay colour all add up to Joyce imo

Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
Cheers. Guernsey was also a possibility but they don’t have any Black Sheep pubs

Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
Removed double-post.
Most interesting, and beautifully decorated.
I would be tempted to remove the awful wire hanger and use a plastic one,
they can cause damage.

Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
you certainly have a talent for rooting out the rare designs

Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
Interesting. Nice thing. I think that the DR signature matches the writing on the base of my Angelfish dish (bottom page 4). So it could well also well be by David.
I'll keep an open mind but the ea and the p look right.
Thanks.
EDIT I would also remove the nasty wire hanger. It looks like some medieval torture device for plates.

Re: Chelsea Pottery (London)
Well, page 4 was very interesting, not only for the early pieces and the fish plates but also to see a post or two by Audrey Durnan!
I contacted Ms. Durnan about 10 years ago, as at the time I'd been given a large "Durnan Pottery" fish platter for a birthday present.
After her time with Chelsea, Audrey Durnan emigrated to British Columbia, Canada and set up a pottery studio at Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, producing wares very much in the spirit of Chelsea.
The platter I have is a fairly major piece of her Shawnigan Lake work, measuring 11" x 15" - and - as you can see, very "Chelsea" looking.
