Lidded vase, MA mark Scottish? Empty Lidded vase, MA mark Scottish?

This belonged to my partner's mother. My partner remembers that it was used as a cookie jar in the early 1960s. The mark looks like an Aldermaston signature, but I am unable to identify it. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts. Many thanks, Darren  Lidded vase, MA mark Scottish? Img_2011

Really not their style, or type of clay.

Utterly different style I am afraid. Aldermaston was earthenware, with a white tin glaze and Islamic type decoration.
Judge for yourself. Lots on the Aldermaston thread on our site.

Appears to be a slip moulded pot which was been decorated by hand. There are some potters in the Scottish Isles making similar work; I’ll see if I can find them.

Thank you so much. My partner's mother recently passed away, and it means a lot to her to glean any history behind some familiar items. My partner's mother was Scottish, so your initial feeling certainly makes sense. Thanks again

The one i was thinking of was Persabus Pottery on the Isle of Islay, but I dont think they’ve been in operation for 50-60 years

It's still a possibility then, if highlanddlg's partner remembers it being used in the 1960s.

It doesn’t necessarily follow that that particular pottery was in operation. Sometimes they’ve been handed or sold on, or someone new has set up a decade or two after the first Pottery
