I like this one.
Coil built with a bubbled lava-type glaze and looks to be ash fired. Unsigned on its smooth bottom.

Are you sure it’s not wheel turned? Potters form those ridges with their fingers on the wheel for decorative purposes, where as a coiler would smooth the edges down to attach the ropes of clay together

I really don't know, Naomi. I assumed it was coiled because of the ridges inside the neck which seemed to me to be an unnecessary addition for a turned piece, especially as it doesn't exactly help a smooth pour, whereas if they were formed as a natural result of the process of coiling it would save time not smoothing them.

I have lots to learn.

We are sure it's thrown now, aren't we?

Right now I'd hesitate to say I was sure of my own name, s-p, but I always defer to those with greater knowledge on any given subject, so if Naomi says it's thrown then I'm happy to accept that.

An example of coiling. After scraping and/or paddling, the coil builders end up with a very smooth surface.

I believe that I have seen something similar in the dim and distant past and do like it. I imagine that it is European.
