Egg Cup? With saucer marked E

Please can anyone help. Is this an amateur piece. Im guessing its an egg cup, but cannot find who the E might be. Its a dark teal blue shade. I love it.

It’s not a mark I’ve come across before, and most British potters use a stamp. Plus the piece looks hand built by the ‘pinch pot’ method rather than wheel thrown. My feeling is it’s a student piece rather than by a professional studio potter
