Hand painted little Japanese side plate with inscribed mark on the base. Does anyone recognise the artist? Many thanks

Not sure it’s Asian. Might be an H mark

Well I'm not really seeing the H mark..  It looks more like and X with a long line that crosses through the centre and an upward tick at the bottom of it.  I have uploaded another pic if that shines some more light..... 👍
