Anyone?
It's a fruit bowl - three feet painted red, yellow and blue. Probably c.1930s.

The shield shape is a bit like the Shelley shield shape. Anyone know if Shelley had any sister companies?

Re: Anyone recognise this base mark?
Thanks Tigerchips. I found a vaguely similar Longton mark but its not close enough. What makes you think that it might be Longton?

Just with NaomiM saying the word in the stamp might start LON...
a Lot of the Staffordshire potteries marked items with the place name "Longton". "London" could also be a possibility but less likely.
Staffordshire potteries also tend to use 3 letter initial marks. You can see a long list of company initial marks here... http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/initials.html

Oh, ok. I was hoping it was the shield shape that would give most clues. One Longton mark i saw was a very similar green and had a wheatsheaf on top which looked vaguely like the blob on top of my shield but it wasn't close enough.
