Stoneware cylinder vase signed

I bought this in Cognac, France at the weekend, and I think it might be French ... but perhaps you can correct me? It has a hand written signature on the base, which is almost illegible - but not quite! So, does anyone have any ideas as to where it comes from, and whose signature it is? I very much appreciate all that you are doing here, thanks.
