Stoneware bowl M mark - Mary Rich? Marg Hall?
Hi folks,
I have had this unassuming bowl for years (bought in the UK) - great to fill with fermented condiments like kimchi.
2.5" high ... 4.5" diameter.
It is simply a lovely bowl, well made, lightweight, exact linear decoration.
But the M mark has eluded me.
Any thoughts will be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Looks like an early Mary Rich before she switched to porcelain and gilded decoration

Mary Rich emailed the following:
"Dear Tim,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Thanks for the two photos. The potter's mark does look very like mine and I did make pots using stoneware back in the sixties. It could well be one of mine but I cannot be 100% sure. I started my first pottery in Falmouth in 1962 and moved here in 1969. If it is one of mine, I think it would be a Falmouth pot - but many potters make nice little pots like this!
Sorry I can't be more definite.
Best wishes,
Mary."
I guess I put it down to a "maybe"

if you closely inspect known Mary Rich bowls in museums or galleries you may be able to work it out by comparing the colours
