Hmm the book says c1980-85, but the design looks more 60s/70s.

This was indeed from 1980. The artist Susan Green created a series of the 3 pots. Pencils / Toothbrushes / Golf.

@olipayton A little more information for you. The range were known as 'Catch Cans' and came in boxes !
